Is it for me?

This course is for you if you are interested in learning the ins and outs of a Cyber Security technician's role in a variety of organisations and industries. In an increasingly digital world, organisations across all sectors are using technology to maximise productivity, therefore roles implementing these digital transformations are in high demand.  
This T Level aims to give you an understanding of digital security, how software and business interact, Cyber projection, testing, planning and legal issues. Alongside real-life industry experience to give you a head start on your chosen career. 
As a T level qualification this course provides a chance for you to learn on the job. During your time on the course classroom learning will account for 80% of your time, while your industry placement makes up the other 20%. Each placement is at least 315 hours long (that's roughly 45 days!) What makes T Levels unique is that they have been specially designed with employers and businesses so as soon as you qualify you can step straight into your chosen career, higher apprenticeship or degree confident that you are equipped with all the industry knowledge you need to succeed.

By the end of the course you will have an understanding of: 


  • how digital technologies impact business and market environment 
  • the ethical and moral implications of digital technology 
  • using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems 
  • digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud environments 
  • legal and regulatory obligations relating to digital technologies 
  • the technical, physical and human aspects of internet security 
  • planning digital projects 
  • testing software, hardware and data
  • digital tools for project management and collaboration 

You will also learn about topics specific to digital support services, including: 

  • roles of a Cyber Security technician 
  • communication in digital support services 
  • fault analysis and problem resolution
  • common cyber threats and protection methods 

 
In the second year, you will complete an occupational specialism in Cyber Security

Work experience placements

An industry placement is a big part of the T Level course - you'll need to undertake a minimum of 315 hours of mandatory industry experience where you can put your technical skills and classroom knowledge to the test, further enhance existing skills, as well as developing hands on experience in your chosen industry.  

Assessment

You will be assessed in Two core knowledge exams, an Employer set Project and on a Occupational specialism synoptic project in Cyber Security.
