Duration 1 year
Study times 09:15 - 16:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
Entry requirements Four GCSE's, including Maths Grade 6, English Grade 4 and Science Grade 4, or successful completion of our Level 1 provision and subsequent completion of progression assessments. It is expected that you have a genuine interest in the industry. You will be required to attend an interview as well as passing a short aptitude test.
Campus West Suffolk College Sixth Form Campus, Bury St Edmunds
Work placements You will be required to undertake a minimum of 50 hours Work Experience.

Is it for me?

This qualification is for you if you wish to build a career as an electrician in the building services industry. It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and to progress you further onto our Level 3 apprenticeship programme & employment. The qualification is a step towards becoming a competent electrician and will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the electrotechnical sector. 
Not only will this course teach you the basic skills and knowledge of Electrical Installation, but you will also develop excellent professional skills during your studies, equipping you for life in the workplace. The importance of resilience and increasing confidence to work independently is strongly developed in this Level 2 programme.

Work experience placements

Work experience is a big part of this course – you'll need to undertake a minimum 50 hours within a work experience placement in the sector, which will give you a massive advantage when you are ready to move into employment.

Assessment

This course is assessed by synoptic exam and practical assessment.
