About the course

Thank you for your interest in joining us to begin your journey into the inspiring world of Early Years education with our Level 3 Early Years Workforce course.
This exciting course is designed to equip students with the inspirational skills needed to be responsible for the development, care, and education of children in the Early Years Sector. 
Successful completion of this 1 year programme offers our students a direct stepping stone into Early Years sector employment as a level 3 Licenced Practitioner. This includes roles such as Primary classroom assistant, nursery or Preschool practitioner, Nanny or Assistant in a Children's Centre.
The exciting range of course themes are designed to provide students with a detailed knowledge of the role of a quality Early Years Practitioner.
Alongside this, the substantial workplace experience ensures students leave with significant confidence in their vocational skills which are highly valued across the choice of sector employment opportunities.

Entry requirements

Government mandate states employees will need to have maths and English at either Functional Skills level 2, or GCSE grade 4 to be employed in this sector.
Applicants will need to be organised and highly motivated to manage their own time effectively as this course requires students to also be working in a suitable placement for at least 16 hours per week alongside studying. Students should discuss this course with their line manager and ensure that they will be given protected study time and that their employer will be prepared to allow on site visits from the assessor in able to complete the practical observations.

Qualifications

You should be working at or towards level 2 in both maths and English. We will require you to complete a short skills assessment before your application is completed unless you can provide proof of previous attainment achieved within the past year.

What you'll learn (core modules)

The Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) (QCF) is a work placed qualification. Learners will complete the qualification within their own workplace, enabling them to develop their necessary skills and expertise to work with Children from birth to 5 years. The qualification structure is scoped around the following four themes:

 

  • Theme 1: Health and well-being
  • Theme 2: Legislation, framework and professional practice
  • Theme 3: Play, development and learning for school readiness
  • Theme 4: Professional development.

How will I be assessed?

You will need to complete a number of written assessments, practical observations and proof of competency. You will be assigned a 1-2-1 assessor who will agree an appropriate schedule and set up online study sessions which you must be able to commit to. 

Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)

The majority of this course will be completed online.

Where will this course take me?

As well as ensuring a full level of competence as a Early Years Educator, this course provides a foundation for potential progression into a number of career paths in the Educational sector, including, Practitioner in day nurseries, Practitioner in nursery schools, Practitioner in reception classes in primary schools, Pre-school worker, and Home based child carer.

How much will it cost?

For students who meet the  criteria  below this course will be fully funded. If you do not meet these conditions you can still complete this course, but you will need to self fund. Please contact us for further details

Be unemployed or in employment but earning below £20,300 (£21,000 in CPCA)
