About the course
The Adult Maths & English department offers a range of high quality teaching options to suit all expectations and lifestyles. Whether you left education early or didn't get the grades, we are on hand to help you achieve success.
The course will run 1 day a week over 5 weeks with homework between classes. You will be expected to attend each week and take the exam after the course has finished.
There will be an Induction on Monday 9 June where you will be provided with course materials and an introduction to the course.
Entry requirements
This is an intensive course working at L2 (possibly L1 depending on demand) so we will require you to take a diagnostic test online to ensure this course is the right level for you. We do have classes starting in september that start at Entry Level.

What you'll learn (core modules)
This course will also provide you with English skills in preparation for progressing to GCSE, university and/or employment.
The qualification comprises three assessments: reading, writing and speaking and listening.
How will I be assessed?
Examinations will be taken for reading and writing along with a speaking and listening assessment.
Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)
Lessons take place at The University and Professional Development Centre on Western Way in Bury St Edmunds .

Where will this course take me?
Functional Skills qualifications for Levels 1 and 2 are progression routes towards the GCSE. When a qualification is successfully achieved you will have the option to progress onto a higher level functional skill or a GCSE.
How much will it cost?
The course is free if you :
do not already hold a grade C/5 or above @ GCSE in this subject and are a UK citizen living in the UK for the last 3 years or you have an eligible residency status (please ask us for further details)

INDUCTION and ENROLMENT
Once you apply online, your centre team will send you all the information you need to enrol
You will undertake online Initial and Diagnostic Assessments to assess the most appropriate level of study. It is important that you complete this assessment on your own and to the best of your ability.
