Get Ready

  • Age Range: 16+
  • Course Delivery: Online
  • Length of Programme: 1 week 

The programme is based around a certain job area and helps to gain the skills required to support participants to decide on their next steps. The course helps learners to gain further training in employability before moving on to one of our more detailed employability programmes.

  • Course Delivery: Online (+ work placement)
  • Length of programme: 3 weeks online learning + work placement 

The programme is based on a career specific qualification and the skills required to support participants to switch career or get started in a new one. You will gain job specific skills, qualifications, and a substantial work placement in order to be ready for work in a new sector.  

A traineeship is a skill training programme that includes a work placement. The placement can last from 6 weeks up to 1 year, though most traineeships last for less than 6 months. It helps the learner to get ready for an apprenticeship or job if they don’t currently have the suitable skills or experience.

Get Hired - Sector Based Work Academy

  • Length of programme: 1 - 3 weeks dependent on sector

For those close to employment, thinking about switching careers or need to build confidence and develop of existing skills ready for a live job interview with a new employer. The sector-based work academy programme is specific to an employer or group of employers within a certain sector where current job vacancies exist for participants to successfully gain employment in on completion of the programme.

Computer Skills for Beginners

Age Range: 19+

  • Course Delivery: Face to Face at West Suffolk College
  • STEM Campus BSE, Haverhill, Thetford, Ipswich and Sudbury Learning Centres
  • Length of programme: 4 weeks 

The basics and getting online

Join the internet revolution.  This short course is aimed at those who have no, or very little, knowledge of computers and how to get online. 

Finding Work in a Digital World

This course looks at using your computer to do tasks that will help you get a job. For example. creating a CV and cover letter, uploading your documents to job sites and completing on-line job applications and other job and benefit related forms.
