Christmas Jumper 2021

Our Built Environment and Apprenticeships teams are wearing Christmas Jumpers all week to raise money for Young Lives vs Cancer on behalf of the family and friends of Benjamin King including his mother and father Tonya and Jason, sisters Jasmin and Maisy, cousins Ashlee, Jay and Sasha and friends Matthew and Luke. You can donate in memory here and leave a message for his family and friends.

Benjamin was a Level 1 Carpenter in 2019 to 2020. He completed the course and went onto Level 2 Apprenticeship. Outgoing and funny, he loved nothing more than spending time driving around town with his friends. "Ben and I had a common interest in cars and I remember having lots of conversations with him about which cars he had raced at the weekend, and which cars he wishes one day he would own," said course director Will Morgan.

Sadly, Benjamin fell ill in 2021 with cancer, and after a very short battle against it, he passed away on November 2, aged 19. We will be planting a tree in his memory in the grounds of the Built Environment as a reminder for everyone to know how brave he was.

"Benjamin was an asset to our Apprenticeship family," said Lisa Parish, Assistant Principal, Curriculum Strategy and Innovation. "Whilst only with us for a short while before his diagnosis, his impact was significant and he leaves a lasting impression on our team. His positive attitude and compassion for others truly shone through and we will hold Benjamin’s courage in our memory as a source of inspiration."

The family are supporting Young Lives vs Cancer. Please donate in memory of Benjamin - every donation is welcome.
