On Tuesday (11 October) we hosted a business, logistics and tourism day which consisted of a wide range of speakers and businesses.
The students were tasked with completing a series of mini tasks throughout the day and this included gathering no less than two business cards as well as networking with local employers to find out about work experience, future employment opportunities or just develop their curiosity and find out about that particular industry.
Learners were hosted by a speaker from Amazon (John McFall, Head of Global Logistics and Supply - Amazon), Tesco, Magnus, Greene King, Discover Newmarket and many more interesting organisations. Learners were also able to develop character strengths as well as dive into a range of different workshops including CV writing which was hosted by a local accountancy firm (Scrutton Bland), team working which consisted of organisng hotel keys and putting customer details in order for the VENI Hotel.
Overall, students found the experience a great opportunity to think about their next steps and employers were able to offer words of wisdom to our young learners as well as excite them about a wide range of careers in business, logistics and tourism.
