About the course
This qualification is intended for those either working or aspiring to work, in a bookkeeping position to gain an understanding of the processing role. It is the progression route through the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualifications for those with AAT Level 1 Access, or for those without the experience of double entry book keeping.
The course is delivered by an experienced, supportive team of qualified and experienced staff at West Suffolk College.
Entry requirements
Unlike other qualifications there are no entry requirements with AAT and you don't need relevant work experience. This means that this course is ideal if you are leaving school, returning to work or thinking about a change in career.
Useful strengths include confidence with numbers, time management, attention to detail and an ability to problem solve.

Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)
Our AAT courses run in several different formats to meet the needs of our learners. This option is a daytime course running on-site at our Bury St Edmunds campus; however, other formats are available on our website.
During this time, you will be taught using a range of engaging teaching and learning techniques. In addition, learners will have one-to-one tutorials. Learners can expect to spend a further 3-6 hours of independent study per week outside of College in order to complete the requirements of the programme.
Where will this course take me?
This qualification offers a natural route of academic progression into the AAT Level 3 Bookkeeping Certificate or Diploma in accounting which is available at West Suffolk College upon completion of the Level 2. The accountancy and business skills developed by studying this qualification will enable a student to seek employment with confidence and/or to progress to the next level of learning.
A learner completing this qualification will develop skills in double-entry bookkeeping and will understand how to use journals, control accounts and a trial balance.
How much will it cost?
The course costs £400.00. Funding is available to students who meet certain criteria
If you need help with funding
AAT registration is required to be paid after enrolment to enable learners to sit the examinations and access AAT resources.
The exam fees for a first sitting are included in the tuition fee. However, resits will incur an additional cost.
