Is it for me?
This exciting and hands-on course will introduce you to the fascinating world of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, helping you understand how science explains the human body, the materials around us and even the energy that shapes our universe.
You will explore Biology through topics connected to the human body, health and the science of medicine, investigating how biological processes keep the body functioning and how scientific knowledge is used to understand health, disease, diagnosis and treatment.
In Chemistry, you will discover how substances behave, react and are used in the world around us. Through the applications of chemistry, you will develop your understanding of chemical reactions and materials while learning how chemists use practical techniques to investigate substances, analyse results and solve problems.
Your study of Physics will take you from everyday applications of forces and electricity to exploring energy and our universe. You will investigate how energy is transferred and used, developing an understanding of the physical principles that help scientists explain everything from technologies used in our everyday lives to some of the biggest questions about the universe.
A major part of the course will be practical and laboratory-based learning. You will not simply learn about science from a textbook. You will have opportunities to carry out experiments, use scientific equipment, follow laboratory procedures, record and analyse results and evaluate the success of your investigations. You will develop important skills including accuracy, observation, teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, scientific investigation and safe laboratory practice.
By discovering how Biology, Chemistry and Physics connect to medicine, healthcare, forensic science, technology and the wider world, the course provides an engaging foundation for progression to Level 3 science and related programmes.
