Is it for me?
Are you passionate about science and want to take your practical skills to the next level? Do you enjoy investigating how things work, carrying out experiments and using science to solve real-world problems? T Level Science: Laboratory Sciences gives you the opportunity to experience science as it is used in professional laboratories and industry.
This exciting Level 3, two-year programme has been designed to develop the scientific knowledge, technical skills and professional behaviours required within the modern science sector.
Science goes far beyond learning theories in a classroom. Throughout the course, you will explore important scientific concepts and develop your understanding of scientific methodology, experimental techniques, data and information, health and safety, ethics, quality standards and good scientific and clinical practice.
Choosing the Laboratory Sciences occupational specialism allows you to take your practical skills even further. You will learn how to plan and prepare for laboratory activities, conduct specialist scientific techniques, accurately collect and process data, analyse results and evaluate the success of scientific investigations.
Working in our specialist science laboratories, you will have the opportunity to develop your confidence using scientific equipment, experimental procedures and analytical techniques.
A key feature of the T Level is that your learning extends beyond the college laboratory and into the workplace. The programme includes a substantial industry placement, giving you valuable experience of working with an employer and the opportunity to apply the knowledge and practical skills you have developed to a genuine professional environment. T Levels include a minimum of 315 hours, approximately 45 days, of industry placement, providing a strong connection between your studies and the world of work.
