Level 3

Evening Course

This course provides a recognised route to higher education courses for all branches of Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and other health care programmes. It may also lead to higher education degree courses in areas such as Health Studies, Psychology and Sociology. Access to higher education programmes are designed to meet the needs of learners who may not have had the opportunity to enter higher education earlier in their lives. Classes are flexibly timetabled to meet the needs of learners.

Days

Monday: 6pm to 9pm

Wednesday: 6pm to 9pm

Thursday: 6pm to 9pm

When:

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9am to 5pm.

This course provides a Level 3 foundation to learning in the Health Science sector, providing a valuable balanced qualification for progression into higher level Health Science courses such as Degree's.  apprenticeships or employment. There is an emphasis on applied sciences within the course to support students who are interested in clinical career aspirations.  A compulsory part of the course is work placement and you will need to complete in the region of 75 hours per year within the course. Work placement is organised by the work placement team. It is a full time course. You attend college three days per week, and one day are out in placement. You will get the opportunity to work in a variety of Health Sciences Settings.

This  one year course is suitable for those seeking to work professionally in the Health and care sector, providing a valuable foundation for progression onto university degree courses or employment. This course is an excellent choice for students interested in healthcare careers - nursing, midwifery, paramedic technician, physiotherapy.

Learners are likely to have already gained qualifications at Level 3 or A level and may be considering a change in their career direction and seek to enhance their learning and university application through taking this one year course The course is equivalent to up to 1.5 A levels  and additionally provides the important work placement to enhance applications to advanced study. 

One of the benefits of studying this course  at college is the professional qualifications of all the teaching staff. The course is delivered by nurses, midwives,  and other teachers who are professionally qualified in their field such as additional needs specialist teachers.

Students gain an excellent understanding of the professional values of the sector because all of our tutors have worked within the health and social care industry.

A valuable  part of the course is work placement and you will need to complete 100 hours, the college have dedicated work placement team to support organizing placements. .

It is a full time course. You attend college three days per week and additionally usually one day is out in placement throughout the college year. 

This work placement offers the opportunity to work in a variety of adult health and social care settings.

An Advanced Apprenticeship is a job with an accompanying skills development programme designed by employers in the sector. It allows you to gain technical knowledge and real practical experience while being paid to do so. Along with functional and personal skills that are needed for your immediate job and future career you will learn through a mix of project based learning in the workplace, formal off the job training, and the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work context.

Lead Adult Care Worker make a positive difference to someone's life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges. You will be expected to exercise judgement and take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity and control. By providing leadership, guidance and direction at the frontline of care delivery you will be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support. Lead Adult Care Workers will in some circumstances have delegated responsibility for the standard of care provided and may supervise the work of other care workers. This exercising of autonomy and accountability means leading and supporting others to comply with expected standards and behaviours.

Lead Adult Care Workers may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings. As well as covering Lead Adult Care Workers this standard also covers Lead Personal Assistants who can work at this senior level but they may only work directly for one individual who needs support and/or care services, usually within their own home.
