There are various start dates during the academic year. Attendance is required at a training day / induction, after which all other learning and assessment is arranged on an individual basis.

The start dates for the 2020/21 academic year are Wednesday 14 October 2020 and Tuesday 23 March 2021 at West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds.

This 15 credit Certificate is designed for practitioners who are responsible for leading internal quality assurance practice in their organisation. It is suitable for you if you lead a team of quality assurance staff, such as a lead internal quality assurer for an assessment centre. It comprises the two units from the IQA Award (above) plus a generic management unit in which you demonstrate competence in leading a team of quality assurers (minimum 3), planning, allocating and monitoring their work. It is usually assessed through observation, examination of work products, questions, assignments and professional discussion. You are given up to 15 months to complete this Certificate qualification.

This is a 6 credit Award intended for those who wish to gain an understanding of the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment, without any requirement to practice. It is suitable for you if you are wanting to move into a quality assurance role but do not yet have an opportunity to practice in this area, or if you simply want a better understanding of the processes and practices for quality assuring assessment. Those who need to know about quality assurance, but do not intend to practice (for example managers of quality assurers) are able to learn about essential principles and practices by achieving the knowledge unit only. It is usually assessed through assignments and professional discussion. This qualification usually takes 3 – 6 months to achieve.
