Dear Students,

In light of the Government’s announcement to close schools and colleges, the West Suffolk College campuses will be closed from 4.30 pm today until further notice.

However, we are adopting a virtual and distance learning approach for students; which staff have been preparing for and are ready to support. With the wellbeing of our students and staff in mind, continuity at this time is essential and at West Suffolk College we will be operating as normal – just not from the college campuses.

We are working with our validating partners to ensure that students are not penalised by this situation and if you have upcoming exams or face to face assessments please do not worry, we will keep students updated on changes to these.

As always we are committed to support all of our students and the following email addresses have been set up for questions, queries or concerns that you might have:

  • This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - for support from the personal support team, Sarah and Laura, or academic support from Ben or the library team.
  • This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - for general help and enquiries

You can also contact your lecturers, Sarah, Laura or Ben directly on their college email addresses.

We will ensure that you are regularly updated with information about the College’s strategy and plans for dealing with this very unusual situation through a regular email but also through Brightspace and the West Suffolk College website (www.wsc.ac.uk).

Please keep in touch with your peers and your tutors. This will be essential for everyone’s wellbeing and successful progress and finally I would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding - we have worked our way through the last couple of weeks to get to a stage where we can now continue in a virtual way with your learning. I want to assure you that all of your lecturers, the support team and the management team are fully committed to ensuring you achieve and progress either to the next level or to graduation and we will all do what we can to make sure this happens.

Best wishes

Rachel Kirk

You can do so much more

It’s never too late to change things. Even if you have not studied for years, or left school without many qualifications, you can still get going on a new course.

We provide all the support to help you restart studying – and you’ll feel at home too as many other people on our courses are just like you.

Our Access to Higher Education courses are the perfect way to discover what’s possible. The course will help you rebuild confidence before embarking on more demanding study, and also help you adapt the rest of your life around the time needed for study.

A door opener to a degree, or anything

Many people use the course as a way back into degree study, but it’s not the only option. We offer access to higher education diplomas designed for different industries, each with its own specific study areas. You can choose from business, counselling, nursing, teaching, science or history, english and sociology. Each course last one year, part time.

Designed to make life-changing easier

We pride ourselves in offering a unique, friendly and supportive learning environment. With smaller class sizes and higher than average ratio of lecturers to students, we’re able to make the learning experience highly individual to you.
