This short course is the perfect introduction to computers for those with very little or no knowledge. In plain non technical language it will take you through the very basics of what a computer is, how to operate it and look at some of the most important functions, e.g. creating simple documents, connecting and using the internet, sending and receiving emails and much more. As a condition of funding, students will be required to compete a short skills assessment at the start of this course.

 

This short course is aimed at complete beginners, it is suitable for those with a little or no knowledge to give an insight into computer basics and build confidence to explore further.

The course incorporates a good mixture of both the practical (hands-on) and theory. By the end of the course, you should have a better understanding of how your camera works, which settings to use for most situations, how to produce images for specific situations and identify what equipment is needed to optimise images for different situations. You will take pictures in a variety of settings, learn how to transfer images to the computer and perform improvements.

 

This is a 1 day workshop for those with no/very little experience of Microsoft Excel but who want to find out what it does and how to start using it.

The format will be â€

 

This is a 1 day workshop designed for those who already know how to use the basics of Excel but want to enhance their knowledge by learning how to use more of its functionality to help them to work more effectively and save time.

 

The format will be 'teach and try' where we show you what to do then you will be given examples to try it out for yourself.

 

At the end of the course you will have a much better understanding of Excel and its various features, including the benefits of each feature and when and how to use them.  You will be able to use Pivot tables and charts to analyse raw data and provide meaningful information.  You will also be able to use a wider range of formulas and functions to get the answers you need quickly.
