What will I learn?
Over 10 weeks, beginners will be guided through essential hand-building techniques — including pinching, slab work, coiling, and using moulds. You'll also explore texture, pattern, and mark?making, and experiment with decorating your pieces using slips, oxides, underglazes, and glazes. You'll learn the basics of glazing to give your finished work a beautiful, personal touch.
Who is the course for?
These weekly, tutor-led sessions are perfect for complete beginners or anyone who'd like to refresh and revisit the basics of pottery. The course focuses on building strong foundations, so it's best suited to those starting out or rebuilding confidence, rather than advanced learners.
Will I have to provide anything?
- Please wear closed toe shoes and an apron.
- Please bring a notepad, sketchbook and pencils.
- Pottery tools are provided but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
