The music industry is a tough world, but if you know that music is the only thing you are here for, then we can help. Artist, songwriter, live sound engineer, producer, composer, or promoter - we will give you a channel to develop your skills.
What’s it all about?
Music performance and recording always involves more people than there are on stage or in the studio. Every gig and every record has a big team behind the scenes to bring off the memorable show or the long lived masterpiece.
What will I do?
You will focus on live entertainment, recording and management skills. The live entertainment skills include understanding PAs, lighting and visual projection. The recording skills involve studio design and equipment, production, mastering techniques and working with an artist to achieve a quality recording.
You’ll be applying all of those skills in practical projects throughout the year and your work will create an impressive showreel to advance you career. It will help if you are a total perfectionist and prepared to work long and late to create something special.
Where could it take me?
The music technology qualification prepares you for a career as a recording engineer, producer, event manager, studio manager, lighting operator, projectionist, rigger, music marketer, promoter, sound designer, acoustician, or any career within radio or a record label. Some jobs require a university degree, which this course prepares you for.
