If your answer is yes, then these are the courses for you.
The suite of qualifications on offer in this department will give you an in-depth understanding of the principles of the uniformed public services sector and give you the opportunity to explore the different routes into a uniformed public services career. You will work your physical fitness to prepare you for the levels required for entry into your chosen career path. The skills you gain on the course are transferrable skills which can be applied in any workplace or further study.
You will study a variety of units which will deepen your knowledge and understanding of the UK’s Public Services and gain skills related to the Uniformed Public Services. You will be taught by industry professional who have worked in a variety of different uniformed public services. Additionally, we work closely with the local uniformed public services to give you many opportunities to understand how they work and inspire your future career goals.
Your course will give you both practical and theory experience. You will be given the opportunity to engage with the local community and Police, Fire, Royal Air Force, British Army and Royal Navy including the Royal Marines, Prison and Border Force, to gain hands on experiences dealing with members of the public and skills for employment.
After completing the course students’ progress to many different careers paths in the H M Forces and emergency services, other choose higher education. Student leave the department equipped with the skills, character strengths and connections to give them the best possible start to their future career.

What can I do next?
Upon completion of the Level 3 Policing or Public Services programmes students go on to a number of pathways including University and Higher Education. Level 2 Public services learners can progress onto the Level 3 provision.
Industry statistics
The total size of the full-time UK Armed Forces (trained and untrained) as of 1 April 2021 was just under 159,000. Most personnel were within the Army (56%) with the remainder being equally split between the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, and the RAF.
Data show that there were 137,704 officers in the 43 territorial police forces in England and Wales as at 31 March 2021. A manifesto commitment of the current Government was a pledge to recruit an additional 20,000 police officers in England and Wales by 31 March 2023. (gov.uk, Apr 2021).
