Whether you choose to specialise in Plumbing, or take the multiskilled option of Building Services Engineering, a student in our department can expect a robust timetable with sessions delivered to meet industry standards.
The Team is made up of lecturers and technical demonstrators all of whom have a vast array of experience and knowledge of all sectors including industrial, commercial and domestic plumbing, heating and building services engineering.
Your week will include a combination of both theory and practical workshop sessions designed to give you the necessary skills and knowledge to progress on your course.
In the workshop you will have access to high quality tools and facilities led by experienced technical demonstrators always at hand to assist students with tasks.
Classroom sessions are delivered as a hybrid of lecturer taught online and onsite lessons, with all work and assignments delivered through Google Classroom.
As well as your core qualification, students will undertake enrichment activities such as:
- Industry led talks
- Grudfos Ecademy training courses
- Danfoss Learning
- World Skills Competition
- HIP Plumbing Student of the Year
Where could it take me?
We have built excellent links with local and regional businesses. This will help you to gain meaningful work experience and work on projects linked to businesses which will bring your learning to life and allow you to develop employer connections.
Every year, many of our students progress onto our Level 3 9189 Apprenticeship standard, whilst others continue learning or gain other meaningful employment within the Building Services Engineering industry.
What can I do next?
- Upon completion of the Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing you can progress onto either Level 2 Technical in Plumbing (Maths and English grades dependent) or Level 2 Access to Building Services Engineering.
- Upon completion of the Level 2 Access to Building Services Engineering you can progress onto the Level 2 Technical in Plumbing/ Electrical (Maths and/ or English dependent)
- Upon completion of the Level 2 Technical in Plumbing you can progress to employment or a Level 3 apprenticeship standard.
