This short course is a follow-on from the Beginners Computer - joining the internet revolution course, although if you have some basic computer skills you can join this course without attending the previous one.

 

Having mastered the basics of using a Windows computer, for example:

-           understanding the desktop

-           how to find and launch apps

-           how to browse the internet

 

This course looks at using your computer to do tasks that will help you get a job, for example creating a CV and cover letter, uploading your documents to job sites and completing on-line job applications, video interviews and other job and benefit related forms. It will also show you how and where to save your files and most importantly how to find them again!

 

It is aimed at those who have a basic understanding of computers but need to know how to create documents and upload files which are becoming a more essential part of applying for jobs these days.

 

We will look at how Windows stores your files and how to save them to a memory stick so you can take them with you.

 

The course will have a mix of taught and practice sessions to help embed your new skills.

This course looks at using your computer to create things – files -  how to save your projects safely and most importantly show you how to find them again!

 

It is aimed at those who have a basic understanding of windows but now want to do more than accessing the Internet to get more out of their computer. In plain non-technical language, it will take you through how we create stuff (files) using our computer and then how and where to save them. We will look at creating files with WordPad and Paint and saving them to our computer. You will then practice creating letters, newsletters and other documents, mixing text and images.

 

We will also look at copying your CDs to a computer and how to transfer your photos from a camera or phone.

 

We will look at how Windows stores your files using folders and how to create your own folders to get organised and to find those important files again.

 

The course will have a mix of taught and practice sessions to help embed your new skills.

This short course is the perfect introduction for those who are feeling left behind in this internet age and want to know how to use a Windows computer to access the wealth of information that can be found on the internet.

 

It is aimed at those who have no, or very little, knowledge of computers and how to get online. In plain non-technical language, it will take you through the very basics of what a computer is, how to operate it and look at how to use your computer to access and use the internet to; search for information, access online services like banking, benefits, taxes, passports and other government services. how to shop online and how to access social media to keep in touch with friends and family.

 

It will also look at the importance of having an email account in the online world, how to get your own email account (for free) and how to send and receive emails.

 

The course will have a mix of taught and practice sessions to help embed your new skills.

This is a new course designed for all ages and levels of ability to ensure students have a good understanding and knowledge of digital skills which are needed both for home and work in this digital age.

 

Students are able to learn using their choice of device, a laptop or desktop Windows computer, or a tablet and will learn the fundamental digital skills needed for everyday home and work activities.

 

This is a 1 day workshop for those designed for those who already have a good knowledge of Excel but want to enhance their knowledge to help them use the advanced features of Excel to create complex formulas, interactive reporting dashboards and automate tasks.

 

The format will be 'teach and try' where we show you what to do then you will be given files to try it out for yourself.

 

At the end of the course you will be able to use Pivot Tables and charts to create interactive reports and dashboards and use a wider range of formulas and functions to get the answers you need quickly.
