The IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations 2382-18 (BS 7671:2018) course is designed for those working in industry to demonstrate their understanding of the requirements of BS 7671:2018. Successful completion of the on-line tutorials and examination will lead to the City and Guilds 2382-28 qualification.

This on-line learning is provided by City and Guilds and following completion of the 7 hours, candidates would need to attend an on-line examination at West Suffolk College on designated dates.

This course is aimed at qualified electricians looking to gain knowledge and practical understanding of the initial verification, certification, periodic Inspection testing and certification of electrical systems.

This qualification provides an understanding of the theory and practice involved in the initial verification and certification of electrical installations and also includes the necessary understanding to carry out periodic inspection and testing and correct completion of all relevant documentation.

 

The course is 10 evenings length, commencing at 17.30 and finishing at 20.30 with training days on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the following dates:

14 January 2021

19 January 2021

21 January 2021

26 January 2021

28 January 2021

2 February 2021

4 February 2021

9 February 2021

11 February 2021

 

with on-line examination on the 11 February 2021.

 

½ day practical assessments follow the training and online examination evenings.

 

The fee is £995 per person inclusive of exam fees and a copy of Guidance Note 3 Inspection & Testing.

This qualification is for you if you are a 16-19 year old learner, who wishes to work as an electrician in the building services industry. It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning or into employment. This vocational route at level 3 is a vital step towards becoming a competent electrician.

An Advanced Apprenticeship is a job with an accompanying skills development programme designed by employers in the sector. It allows you to gain technical knowledge and real practical experience while being paid to do so. Along with functional and personal skills that are needed for your immediate job and future career you will learn through a mix of project based learning in the workplace, formal off the job training, and the opportunity to practice and embed new skills in a real work context.

Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic environments. Electricians might work in both indoor and outdoor settings. Electrical equipment and systems may include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment as well as crime and fire alarm systems and renewable energy technologies.

They are able to work on their own proficiently and work without immediate supervision in the most efficient and economical manner. They may contribute to the design of electrical systems. They are able to set out jobs from drawings and specifications, and requisition the necessary installation materials. Electrical safety is an important area of Electricians' work. On completion of their work the electrical systems must be safe to use. They must adhere to safe working practices without endangering themselves or others. Installation Electricians work on the installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of low voltage (less than 1000v) electrical and electronic devices and appliances.
