Sarah Morrison's 'Three Nuns Reflection' photo was chosen by judges as the winning photo.
Budding David Baileys in Norfolk got the chance to showcase their talents during a photography competition aimed at championing Thetford in Norfolk.
Run by the West Suffolk College personal and professional development centre based in Stanforth Road, the contest was launched earlier this year and received 36 submissions.
The overall winner was announced during a showcase event held at the community hub.
Sarah Morrison (pictured above), a Thetford based secretary who had previously taken part in a photography course with the college last year, was announced as the winner.
Sarah said: “I saw an advert online – I enjoy photography – and the competition was called Thetford through the Lens. So, I entered - and lo and behold I won.”
“I received a £50.00 voucher and they gave me a large print of the winning photo that will be in the centre for a few months, before being handed over to me.
“My photo was of the Three Nuns Bridges. They are well known to the town and they have real historical relevance. It’s a local beauty spot and has lots of wildlife. I go there quite a lot and one day the water was really still and I managed to get a nice shot.”
Sarah also came third in the competition and added: “I was really thrilled (to win). Photography is a hobby. It’s relaxing and an outlet for my creativity and winning this has inspired me and given me hope that I might do well again in future competitions.”
Emma Jones was placed second, Micheala Sears was placed joint third during this evening occasion that also allowed the local community to find out about the learning opportunities that are available to them.

Visitors to the event were able to choose their favourite photo and Georgeena Taylor was the ‘on the night’ winner (pictured below).
The pictures have also been integrated into ThetZero, a sustainability trail that is taking place in Thetford this month.
As a result of the Thetzero connection, these pictures will be in the Sue Ryder shop in the town centre and the personal and West Suffolk College professional development centre (also known as the Charles Burrel centre) will also be displaying all submissions over the summer.
Ian Evans is the head of the Thetford centre. He said: “We are proud to see how local, amateur photographers have taken up the opportunity to have their work showcased in and around Thetford. This town boasts an abundance of natural beauty. It is a delight to see people encompass this in their pictures. If you have a chance, please do visit the Sue Ryder shop in town to view this as a part of the ThetZero sustainability trail.”
