During your time at West Suffolk College, you may find that particular difficulties arise which prevent you from performing at your very best and you may need additional support. Every Full time student here at West Suffolk College has a Personal Support Tutor (PST).
Your Personal Support Tutor will provide you with high quality pastoral support and will watch you grow and gain from your studies, as well as help and guide you through any difficult times that you may encounter.
They will be the first point of contact for you if you have pastoral issues and they will support you to work through your issues. If you require more specialised help they will sign post you to the right agencies, either internal or external, and support you to access this help.
The Personal Support Tutor will also support you to achieve and make progress on your course, develop personal, social and employability skills including resilience, and progress into positive destinations.
You will first meet your Personal Support Tutor during the induction period. As the course gets underway you will meet with your Personal Support Tutor for a progress review on a termly basis. Students that require more support will be met with on a more frequent basis.
We believe that your parents or guardians will play a vital role in ensuring your success at the college and we are committed to maintaining a productive and successful relationship with them. Your Personal Support Tutor will communicate with them on a regular basis and will always welcome enquiries about your progress or any concerns.
