Introduction

The new BTEC Higher National Qualification in Healthcare practices for England with specialist pathways provides you with certification in Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Healthcare Practice (Nursing and Healthcare Support).

The course is designed to support students to build on previous skills to develop fundamental professional skills. This course is delivered through classroom, online and workplace teaching and learning. This course to enables you to develop your skill in Healthcare Practices, with specialist pathways including Nursing and Healthcare assistants. . The course is an appropriate mixture of theoretical and applied learning that will enable you to effectively develop the skills needed to work in this ever-changing professional environment.

 

The course aims to

 

? To equip students with the Healthcare Practice skills, knowledge and the understanding necessary to achieve high performance in the global health and social care environment

 

? To provide education and training for a range of careers in healthcare, including: healthcare support and assistant roles in a range of settings, nursing assistant/auxiliary roles, care navigation, planning and assessment roles as well as roles in public health, health promotion and non-clinical healthcare supervisory

 

? To provide insight and understanding into the diversity of roles within the healthcare sector, recognising the importance of collaboration at all levels

 

? To provide opportunities for students to enter or progress in employment in healthcare, or progress to higher education qualifications such as an Honours degree in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration or a related area

 

This course is a part of a suite of Higher qualifications that will allow you to progress through to a degree at University Studies at West Suffolk College or an Apprenticeship.

We offer a wealth of support to ensure that you have the best experience during your course. The course offered a student centred approach with a structure that includes taught face to face and online content as well as work experience. You will be supported to develop practical, interpersonal and higher level thinking skills.

Most successful student usually find that targeting at least 10 hours of self-directed reading and researching is necessary for them to gain the most from their study.

3. Supporting the Individual Journey through Integrated Health and Social

4. Fundamentals of Evidence-based Practice (Pearson-set Project)

5. Health Education in Action

7 Effective Healthcare Practice using Maths

9. Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Ill-Health

14. Sociological and Psychological Perspectives on Health

The certification also requires at least 225 hours of work experience/placement in health and/or social care settings and a Professional Learning and Development portfolio(PLAD), including reflective accounts, to be completed. This may be for the most part your current job if suitable.

This course can support for to Entering  or continue with existing employment within a healthcare, Nursing Assistant Setting

It provides you with linking with the appropriate Professional Body as a part of Committing to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

it supports your progressing to university for some professional courses as well as  at level 5 with RPL for some courses such as

 

BSc (Hons) Health and Wellbeing

BA/BSc (Hons) in Health Studies

BSc (Hons) in Health Promotion.

BSc (Hons) in Management Studies (Health and Social Care)

Entry requirements

A BTEC Level 3 qualification in a related subject

A GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or adequate performance in more than one GCE subject. This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades A* to C and/or 9 to 4 (or equivalent) in subjects such as maths and English

Other related Level 3 qualifications

Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution

Related work experience

An international equivalent of the above.
