This partnership of West Suffolk College, and Bury Rugby Club allows the student to submerse themselves in both high class rugby and outstanding education, at an elite level and is unrivalled in its locality.
The Rugby Academy is a tailored programme for 16-18 year olds who want to continue their education whilst progressing their Rugby career.
Studying towards a BTEC level 3 qualification (equivalent to 3 A-Levels), students will have access to Strength & Conditioning, Performance Rugby Coaching, Physiotherapy and Nutritional advice, delivered by Bury St Edmunds First XV coaches.
The Rugby Performance and Excellence Programme (Bury Rugby Club Academy) is an extraordinary opportunity to combine outstanding education with an exceptional rugby provision. The programme includes some innovative assessments and unit choices to support students in their developments not only as a sports practitioner but also to inspire those towards to career with Rugby.
You will be coaching rugby, analysing sports performance, and developing an understanding of Rugby related injuries. You will have access to highly qualified and experienced staff, many of whom have played professional rugby.
You will also access the unparalleled facilities at Bury Rugby Club, as well as the performance analysis specialists, international strength and conditioning coaches, and sports therapists. Don't just become a better rugby player, become a better you!
Entry Requirements
Entry is by interview. Applicants will need a minimum of four GCSEs Grade 4 or above, including maths and/or English at Grade 4.
Applicants will need to be motivated and manage their own time. Learners will need to have a mature and responsible outlook as they will be required to work with a high degree of independence for certain aspects of the course..
Any student aged 16 to 19 who does not hold a GCSE A* to C (9 to 4 on the new grading structure) or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English by age 16 will need to continue to study these subjects.
