Overview of course
There are various start dates during the academic year. Attendance is required at a training day / induction, after which all other leaning and assessment is arranged on an individual basis.
The start dates for the 2020/21 academic year are Tuesday 6 October 2020, Wednesday 13 January 2021 and Tuesday 20 April 2021 at West Suffolk College in Bury St Edmunds.
This is a 15 credit qualification which comprises a knowledge unit and the two performance units described in the awards (course codes 20ET5605 and 20ET5598. This means the assessor-trainee needs to be actively assessing in both a workplace and work-related training environments. They will need to demonstrate that they are assessing at least two learners in each setting. It usually takes 9 â€“ 15 months to achieve.
There are no formal academic entry requirements but you must have made arrangements before the course starts to have learners to assess.

This programme starts with a group induction and training day at West Suffolk College or online, then all other learning and assessment is arranged on a one-to-one basis. There is usually one start date per academic term. We will be delivering each programme through a blended approach with a combination of face to face and virtual delivery: the specific arrangements will be notified to you before you enrol on the programme. However, the nature of the qualifications require that the assessments you carry out include some face to face work with learners: assessors who only work with learners remotely will not meet be able to the evidence requirements of the Awarding Organisation and sector for these qualifications in their present form. Registration for these qualifications is due to end in July 2021.
