Overview of course
There are various start dates during the academic year. Attendance is required at a training day / induction, after which all other leaning and assessment is arranged on an individual basis.
The start dates for the 2018/19 academic year are Monday 5 November 2018 (Ipswich) and Wednesday 3 April 2019 (Bury St Edmunds).
This qualification comprises two units, a knowledge unit and a performance unit. It can only be achieved by individuals who are assessing learners' occupational competence in a real place of work. The assessor-trainee and the learners can be employed or volunteers but the assessor-trainee must be able to assess at least two learners on at least two occasions. The assessor-trainee must be using, as a minimum, observation, examination of work products and questioning when assessing their learners. The Award has a 9 credit value and is usually assessed through a combination of assessment methods: you will need to be observed carrying out assessment activities and this is supplemented by assignments, examination of work products, questioning and professional discussion.
There are no formal academic entry requirements but you must have made arrangements before the course starts to have learners to assess.
