This course is designed to provide an insight into the Science behind how our world works. You study, research and gain first hand experience about a vast range of scientific areas. Links are made to current working practices used within related industries through speakers, visits and work experience undertaken by learners. Units include:

BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Principles of Applied Science.
What you'll learn (core modules)
You will gain an understanding and knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and Physics alongside improving your practical skills, problem solving and communications skills. You will complete assignments on a broad range of topics along with planning and carrying out your own investigations. Units include topics such as health and safety in the laboratory, the movement of the earth under our feet, to the impact of food miles on the environment. The course mixes theory and practical skills that are taught by an experienced team who have industry based backgrounds.

Coursework and exam.

Where will the course take me?
You may choose from further courses at West Suffolk College, such as Level 3 Applied Science, Level 3 Animal Care or Laboratory Technician Apprentiships. Other related areas they could move on into are courses in Sports Science, Health and Social Care along with Hair and Beauty.
How much will it cost?
This course is funded for Electively Home Educated students.
