About the course
You will get to learn about Life; from the smallest single celled organisms up to large complex organisms such as humans. GCSE Biology offers a chance to improve your problem solving and communications skills alongside carrying out investigations to experience for yourself to wonder and array of life processes. Wether you are interested in cutting edge genetic modifications for medical purposes or what nutrients will encourage your vegetable patch to excel, there is something in GCSE Biology for you.
You will have an interest in understanding the natural world around you, our impact on it and the role science can play in improving it.
Only students 18 and under can attend this day time course, those 19 and over need to apply for the Evening GCSE biology programme.

What you'll learn (core modules)
You will develop scientific skills that will enable you to; problem solve, communicate ideas effectively, carry out valid investigations and explain phenomenon found in nature. The first exam paper topics include; cell biology, organisation, bioenergetics, infection and response. While the second paper examines; homeostasis and response, ecology, inheritance, variation and evolution. There are 10 practicals that also need to be completed during the year.
How will I be assessed?
Two written exam papers.

You will be based in our Laboratories at the Bury St Edmunds Campus.
Where will this course take me?
Allows progression onto level three qualifications, these could be in Applied Science, Health care, Sports Science, Animal Scince, Engineering, Computing, or you can apply the problem solving and communications to Business or Hospitality.
How much will it cost?
No costs to Electively Home Educated students if the college is their only training provider.
