This study programme is designed for 16 to 19 year olds (aged 19 to 24 for students with an Education, Health and Care Plan).

All courses take place on our Sixth Form Campus, therefore any applicants aged 25+ or over who do not have an Education, Health and Care Plan may be required to complete a DBS check as part of the conditional offer to West Suffolk College. The cost to the applicant for a DBS is £30.00 and the DBS check can be completed through the college.

About the course

  • The Level 2 Intermediate programme OCR Health Science aims to develop foundation knowledge and understanding of the health and Science.  There is also a focus on developing academic skills, including Maths and English.
  • The course runs over three days a week (Maths and English is included in this time) and students will participate in a range of various projects, to assess their knowledge and understanding of relevant subjects applicable in the health and Science

 

Entry requirements

4 GCSE grade 3 or above including Math or English at grade 4

Qualifications

Level 2 OCR Diploma in Science

What you'll learn (core modules)

Assignments vary to include learning about various Core science and health science subjects, including Radiology, Nutrition, Human Behaviour and Earth Science.

 The philosophy of the level 2 provision is to allow students to build on their skills, to achieve their goals and to progress to either, an apprenticeship, or to move to study at level 3 within the department: including the new T level qualifications.

Internally assessed varied assignment work

Health and Applied Science Department with state of the art science laboratories and health science specialist rooms
