About the course
This qualification is for those waiting to enter the Electrical industry. It gives you the opportunity to pick up some core skills and knowledge and gives you the opportunity to progress onto our Level 2 Electrical Installation qualification. This 36 week programme also includes practical work in our workshops using industry standard equipment. Successful completion of this course will give you a recognised qualification that can help towards obtaining an apprenticeship.
Four GCSE's including Maths Grade 4, English Grade 3 & Science. It is expected that the applicant will have a genuine interest in the industry and each applicant will be required to attend an interview to ascertain his/her suitability for the course as well as take a short aptitude test.

What you'll learn (core modules)
This diploma has seven mandatory units:
Structure of the construction industry
Fundamental safe working practices
Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
Site preparation for working in the construction industry
Electrical installation wiring and terminations
Fabrication techniques for electrical installation
Electrical science and technology
This course is assessed by multiple choice exams and practical assessments.
You will also undertake the English GCSE to attain a grade 4.

Each unit has a written exam, and there are also practical task assessments throughout the course.
