This decorating qualification is for learners who have achieved L1 Diploma in Decorating and interested in continuing a career, within the very varied, vibrant, and creative Painting and Decorating industry.

What you'll learn (core modules)
A one year, full-time, Level 2 diploma covering all the skills and knowledge required to gain the qualification. These skills include Painting, Wallpapering, Stencilling, Glazing, Marbling, Graining, Coving, Artexing, Drylining, Broken Colour Effects, Roller Work, Colour Schemes, Colour Theory and Using and Erecting Access Equipment.
The decorating course is broken up into eight units:
- Health and Safety
- Communication
- Building Methods
- Preparing Surfaces
- Applying Paint
- Wall and Ceiling Coverings
- Specialist Decorative Finishes
- Access Equipment
- Colour Theory and Spraying
Any student aged 16 to 19 who does not hold a GCSE A* to C (9 to 4 on the new grading structure) or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English by age 16 will need to continue to study these subjects in each academic year.

Where will the course take me?
On completion of the course, learners will be able to continue their studies onto the Level 2 Decorating Diploma, or the NVQ Level 2 programme if they have gained employment.
Of the students who completed this course last year 10% entered Further Education, 71% continued with their existing programme of study and 19% secured employment.
Will I need any materials or equipment?
TMC branded uniform, Safety boots, bib & brace overalls, course text book & drawing set. A basic toolkit (list given at interview)
