About the course

This study programme is designed for our aged 19+ adult learners.

Please visit our 16-18 section for alternative courses.

This course provides a recognised route to higher education courses for all branches of Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work and other health care programmes. It may also lead to higher education degree courses in areas such as Health Studies, Psychology and Sociology. Access to Higher Education programmes are designed to meet the needs of students who may not have had the opportunity to enter higher education earlier in their lives. Classes are flexibly timetabled to meet the needs of student learners. The course can be studied over one academic year [two days (9-5pm), three days (9-3pm) or three evenings (6-9pm) per week].

Entry requirements

Applicants should have an interest in the health and social care professions and be prepared for nine months study. Students are advised to enquire as to individual university entry requirements, e.g. most universities now require GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade C or above for Nursing. Access course study is of A2 Level standard and while there are no formal entry requirements, we must ensure at interview that applicants have a good chance of success.
