Thank you for your interest in the NEW Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Nail Technology. As you know, this is a fast-growing industry and we at West Suffolk College are thrilled to be able to offer you the opportunity to study with us.

Students are given the opportunity to work with experienced and qualified staff and collaborate with Theresa Foddering the founder of Nail dresser and lead trainer for Lecente.
Entry requirements
Successful completion of a level 2 beauty or equivalent nail qualification.
4 X GCSE Grade 4 and above in English, Maths and ideally Science and art

Unit 330 Anatomy and physiology for the hands and feet.
Unit 331 Enhance and maintain nails using light cured gel, including hard gels.
Unit 332 Liquid and powder nail enhancements.
Unit 333 Create and apply nail art.
Unit 334 The creation and presentation of a mood board look book and industry portfolio.
Unit 335 Chemistry of nail products.
Unit 339 Competition work for the nail industry.
Unit 340 Enhancing nails using electrical files.

How will I be assessed?
There is a variety of methods used to assess your work during this course:
Level 3 Nail technology - Theory exam.
Level 3 Nail Technology - Synoptic exam (Practical exam)
Level 3 Nail Technology - Portfolio.
You are also required to take part in Work Related Experience, this must take place in industry throughout the year. You will work with a coordinator to arrange this.
Leading up to the Synoptic Assignment practical assessment you will be supported thought several formative assessments aimed to prepare you for these formal exams.
Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)
This course will be delivered with in the Academy of Hair & Beauty Studies, main campus West Suffolk college.
Where will the course take me?
Achievement of the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Nail Technology demonstrates to an employer that you have the necessary advanced technical skills to be employed as a Nail Technician.
This qualification could lead to a job as a Nail Technician working in one of the following areas:
- Nail bar/salon
- Beauty salon
- Media
- Cruise ship/hotel
- Product or manufacturing company

How much will it cost?
There is a Kit cost of approximately £450 this is for the kit and uniform that MUST be purchased to be able to complete the course.
There will be optional kits that you can purchase if you wish.
The course is free for any students aged 16-19 years of age who do not currently hold a Level 3 qualification.
Any student over the age of 19 or has already completed a Level 3 qualification will need to pay full costs of £3345.00 unless they are in receipt of benefits, the Student Welfare department will be able to help you with this application.
If this is the case, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan that will pay for your course fees.
