About the course
This course is an introduction to the make-up artistry profession. This course allows you to complete maths and English GSCE's, whilst studying your chosen vocational area. The units you will cover are; Health and Safety, Working with others, Professional image, Skin care, Styling hair, Plaiting and twisting, Basic make up application, Themed face paint and Creating an image based on a theme. These units will prepare you for progression onto the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Make-up Artistry.
While completing this course you can work towards completing your GCSE in English and/ or maths. Required grades 3 in English and Maths, however if you achieve below this you will be considered on this course.
At the end of the course you will have completed the City and Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy â€“Make-up Artistry Route

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed throughout your course and given feedback on your skills. You will sit unit exams and complete course work to demonstrate your theory knowledge. Practically you will be required to bring models in for assessments during the course in order to complete.

In Vogue salon's at West Suffolk College.
Where will the course take me?
This course will give an insight into the industry and enable you to progress onto the Level 2 Technical Certificate in Make-up Artistry.
Will I need any materials or equipment?
There is a kit to purchase at the beginning of the course, to enable you to complete the practical elements of the course (cost TBC). You may require arts and crafts materials for making mood boards. Enrichment activities will be organised at additional costs.
