About the course

This course is aimed at all new and existing staff in social care who are in a lead role, anyone who wants to up skill or learn more about their role or wants to progress to further higher levels of training such as level 4. You need to be in employment or a volunteering role to meet the necessary course criteria.

Entry requirements

Learners must meet the following eligibility criteria to access this course:

 

  • Age: Learners must have been at least 19 years of age by 1 August 2022
  • Nationality: Learners must have lived within the EU for at least the last 3 years
  • Learners will need to complete a maths and english diagnostic assesment.
  • First full Level 3 qualification**

 

  • Learners will need to be working, volunteering within the sector as it is an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations.
  • Learners will need access to a computer/laptop to attend virtual sessions.

**Due to funding criteria we are unable to fund learners who already hold a full Level 3 qualification; however, we accept those who wish to self-fund via an Advanced Learner Loan.

What you'll learn (core modules)

The qualification is aimed at lead adult care workers, support workers and key workers in a range of adult care settings.

Students will develop knowledge and skills relating to social care to include the latest acts and codes of practice including legislation. It will develop their knowledge and skills needed when working in a lead role, students will cover a wide range of areas including health and social care procedures, infection control, safeguarding, and the award is tailored to your area of work with optional units.

 

 

How will I be assessed?

Students will be provided with a programme tutor and will meet (online) once a month for virtual study sessions, assesors will offer support and guidance along with regular contact and 1-1 mentoring.

 

All learning will be individually tailored to the learners needs, work area and experience.

Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)

 Students will need to have access to a computer/laptop to be able to upload work and attend "virtual" classroom sessions.

 

Where will this course take me?

Learners can progress into employment in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings within job roles such as:
- Senior Care Support Worker
- Lead Personal Assistant.

How much will it cost?

*The course is fully funded subject to the individual being over 19 and having lived in an EEA country for the last 3 years
