This course is designed specifically to meet the needs of students who want to develop their own journey in knowledge and skills relating to health and well-being. As a part of Public Health this course supports career roles within the sector in relation to personal and community well-being.
Students with interests in health intervention and promotion, including community health improvement may choose this degree to progress their career journey.
The course has a mixture of theoretical and practical application including some work placements in order to develop professionalism and the ability to work in a multi disciplinary environment; meeting this needs of individuals, groups and other professional.
The course will apples to students from a broad range of backgrounds including science, health, social-care, fitness, physical activity and psychology.
In the first year of the degree student will study

- Principles and Practices of Exercise Health and Lifestyle
- Effective working practices for Health
- Applied Physiology
- Psychology of Health and Well-being
Skills acquired in each year will be developed by means of more demanding assignments and the requirement for common practices to be adhered to. These are reflected in the overall course design and pre-requisites, where this applies. The programme begins as more broad-based, to cover fundamental skills development and then becomes more focussed on standards required for employability and sector specific practices.
At the start of each semester feedback is re-capped for the students in a peer session. This allows them to develop strategies for improved understanding, academic skills and practical skills.
Formative feedback is given weekly during class. Group feedback sessions are included and aid understanding of the assessment and grading process. Formative assessments are given regularly to support student's development of practical skills, workshops with feedback and examples of good practice and group discussions to follow.
Summative feedback is given in the form of a tutorial with a written summary of the feedback within three weeks of submission. Students are encouraged to record the session.

MSc in Advanced Healthcare Practices or MA in Healthcare Education, MSc. Physical Activity for Health, and MSc Mental Health Psychology or a graduate NHS /Social Worker Scheme.
Employability is embedded throughout this programme, through visiting specialists and live project opportunities. This enriches the programme and provides learners with access to and experience within, a number of different health and wellbeing vocational roles. A community project at level 5 allows students to consider avenues that they have become interested in through the broad level 4 module plan. This can help them to start shaping a direction for their career and allow them to make contact within the sector. Sector skills and practices are embedded throughout the programme providing students with knowledge development that will support sector competency and practices.
