About the course
When you first arrive in the UK it can be difficult to adapt to a new culture and to learn English. This course is designed for international students aged 15-19 who need to improve their English language skills and also want to learn more about English culture. The course will also help you to decide what future area of study you are interested in.
You will attend at least two ESOL classes every week and work towards achieving an ESOL Skills for Life Certificate. You will also attend classes in ICT & Employability, Maths, Health & Wellbeing, Study Skills, and Living in Britain. These classes will help you to integrate into British life and culture. The Living in Britain sessions may include visits to local attractions and places of interest.
During the course you will meet course directors and tutors from other vocational areas of the college. You may be offered the chance to take part in some practical sessions in the areas you are interested in. This will give you more information about courses to help you decide what you want to do when your English has reached Entry Level 3.
If you want to improve your English and understand more about British culture, the EAL Study Programme is for you. In addition, if you are thinking about studying on a vocational course at college we will help you to improve your study skills and to choose the right vocational area.
