About the course
ESOL Classes at West Suffolk College help you to improve your English.
Our specially trained tutors will teach reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Once you are ready you can take an exam and qualify from Entry level up to Level 2 at any one of our learning centres including Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill, Newmarket, Thetford, Sudbury, or Ipswich.
You will work towards a certificate for ESOL Skills for Life (Gateway) starting at your assessed level.
What you'll learn (core modules)
In a small and friendly class, you will have fun working on grammar and vocabulary skills, role play and speaking and listening for everyday situations.
You will have homework to do on your own during the week. You will work towards a Gateway Certificate of Reading and Writing in the first half of the year and Speaking and Listening in the second half of the year
How will I be assessed?
Assessments will take place in the classroom when your tutor thinks you are ready to pass your current level.
Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)
Due to the continuing pandemic all classes will be delivered ONLINE. We appreciate that this style of learning does not suit everyone, and for some people it may not even be possible, but we have been offering online learning since September and it has worked really well. Classes will be delivered using Microsoft TEAMS and alongside the same great standard of teaching, students will also have regular one to one sessions with the tutor to ensure everyone is given the support they need. Feedback from existing students is that they have enjoyed the experience and the exam pass rate has been excellent.
