About the course
This course aims to provide a broad based education in the essential aspects of electrical/electronic engineering and is designed for those wishing to obtain a qualification at Technician Level 3. In the final year of this course learners will be offered the option of studying the subjects Three Phase Supply Systems and Electrical Technology OR Analogue & Digital Electronics. The course begins with an introductory period covering the fundamentals of Mathematics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
Entry requirements
Applicants should normally be over 16 years of age and have achieved either: GCSE passes in four subjects at A, B or C grades, preferably including mathematics and double science or another technologically-based subject, or a BTEC Level 2. Other entry qualifications include: Electrical Installation courses, O levels, RAF courses. (All subject to an interview and accreditation of prior learning particularly for mature learners).
Qualifications
BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (Electrical).
What you'll learn (core modules)
A range of subjects are studied over the two years these could include: Electrical and Electronic Principles; Principles and Applications of Microcontrollers; Principles and Applications of Electronic Devices and Circuits; Communications for Engineering Technicians; Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace; Mathematics for Engineering Technicians; Further Mathematics for Engineering Technicians; Further Principles Electrical and Electronic Principles; Programmable Logic Controllers; Engineering Project (preferably work based); In addition, Principles and Operation of Three-Phase Systems; and Electrical Technology OR Analogue Electronics; and Digital Electronics could also be studied.
How will I be assessed?
Through a range of practical activities and written assessments.

The course will be delivered at the main site which has a range of state of the art classrooms and practical labs.
Where will this course take me?
Students may progress on to the HNC/HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a Degree in Engineering. The Level Three Diploma is a progression route for the following careers: Maintenance Engineer; Technician Engineer; Design/Development Engineer.
