Overview of apprenticeship
The engineering sector is very broad ranging and is at the heart of all industry in this country. Engineers design and build the things that make our world go round.
This apprenticeship focuses on providing you with the basic skills and mechanical and electrical knowledge you need to start a career in engineering.
You will learn how to provide day to day support for manufacturing or other engineering processes and could become involved with systems such as quality control or testing.
Working in this field requires a good head for figures and IT literacy, You'll need good written and verbal communication skills; and you'll have to be a team player.
Apprentices could work in job roles such as:
- CAD Draught-person - Measurement and Control Technician - Quality Control Inspector - Technical Support Engineer
Where will this course take me?
While significant numbers of Advanced Apprentices will seek internal progression to team leader or supervisory roles within their companies, some will want to progress to a Higher Apprenticeships in Engineering; others may choose a Foundation degree or HNC/HND.
Down to business, what can I do and what can I earn?
Typically, Salaries in the field range from £23,000 - to £45,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
This Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable for applicants who have five GCSE's grade C/4 or above including Mathematics, English and Science. Other entry criteria may be put in place by the recruiting employer.
On successful completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship the learner will receive:
-Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Engineering Technical Support.
-Level 3 in Engineering Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic.
-Functional Skills at Level 2 in Maths, English and ICT (if required).
-Employment Rights and Responsibilities.
-Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
