About the course
Your studies will focus on learning to support the class teacher to enhance pupil's learning in either small groups or individually, to ensure that pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and progress by staying on task. You will also need to be a good role model by promoting positive values and behaviours, act with honesty and integrity, take part in group activities and contribute to planning and class activities.
Career opportunities may include: Teaching Assistant and a progression route for becoming a teacher, social worker and support worker.
Your studies will focus on:
- How to support the class teacher to enhance children's education, individually and in groups
- Planning, providing and reviewing educational opportunities in collaboration with teachers and other adults
- Safeguarding and promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of children and young people
- Recognising, adapting and responding to individual children's needs, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), to support development and access to the curriculum
