Overview of course
This short course is the perfect introduction to computers for those with very little or no knowledge. In plain non technical language it will take you through the very basics of what a computer is, how to operate it and look at some of the most important functions, e.g. creating simple documents, connecting and using the internet, sending and receiving emails and much more. As a condition of funding, students will be required to compete a short skills assessment at the start of this course.
What will I learn?
This specially designed computing course will help students start from the beginning. The course covers the following topics: 1. Using a keyboard and mouse . 2. Basic computer programs to enable you to write, edit, save and print documents. 3. Searching the internet for information online safely and how to save websites you visit regularly. 4 Shopping online and awareness of doing this safely 5 Gaining an understanding of how to complete online forms to book appointments, holidays, applying for jobs etc. 6 Sending and receiving emails, including attaching files and opening them. 7 Learning terminology used around computers and digital devices. 8 Creating a simple spreadsheet 9 Introduction to social media (Facebook)
Who is the course for?

Will I have to provide anything?
Computers will be provided and if required the tutor will provide hand-outs to accompany the topics covered in the course. We will be using Windows 10 on the computers.
