Overview of course
Learn to fold a variety of colourful origami Christmas decorations: from traditional German Froebel stars to origami Christmas trees, wreaths and baubles. The tutor is an experienced folder of modular origami and is passionate about sharing this wonderful craft with others.
What will I learn?
Students will start by folding a simple modular wreath and an origami Christmas tree. You will then make tiny 'lucky stars' for the top of your origami Christmas trees, or to scatter as pretty table decorations. Students will finish the morning session with a beautiful 5-pointed star for the top of your full-sized Christmas tree.
After lunch students will begin by making a traditional woven Froebel Star. Students then make some origami baubles including a fluted diamond and a gyroscope. Finally you will learn how to thread the decorations for hanging on the tree.
Who is the course for?
Suitable for all: beginners or for those with some experience of working with paper.
Will I have to provide anything?
All paper, instructions and equipment will be provided. Students are advised to bring a large plastic container in which to safely transport their finished decorations. You may wish to bring your own origami paper, but this is not essential.
Please also bring a packed lunch, there are vending machines for hot beverages.
Access to the main college car park is via Beeton's Way (IP33 3TT). At your first session please go to Main Reception in The Gateway where you will be met by the tutor or directed to your classroom.
