Overview of course
The aim of this course is to introduce students to a range of pottery techniques so that they can achieve individual creative ideas.
What will I learn?
Unleash your creativity in a fun learning environment! Whether it is objects for the home, garden or gifts for friends, this course will equip you with skills to help you craft your own pottery.
The course covers the following: Health & Safety in the workshop, an introduction to the work area, preparation of clay, demonstrations of slab building, coiling and throwing, using press moulds, decoration techniques using slips, trailing, paper resist, combing etc. Making and decorating with stamps and sprigs
Demonstration and use of extruder. Glazing - how to apply dipping and pouring to a basic design.
Who is the course for?
Suitable for beginners wishing to understand all the processes and would like to make and design their own ceramics.
Will I have to provide anything?
Please wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. It would be advisable to bring your own apron.
Access to the main college car park is via Beeton's Way (IP33 3TT). At your first session please go to Main Reception in The Gateway where you will be met by the tutor or directed to your classroom.
