About the course
This is a new, online, course designed for all ages to ensure students have a good understanding and knowledge of digital skills which are needed for work in this digital age. It will demonstrate to existing and potential employers that learners have the digital skills necessary for employment in jobs where digital skills are required
The course will be delivered through an on-line learning platform but with support from professionally trained tutors throughout the course. The tutors will be available to provide guidance and support, to mark assignments and to provide feedback on progress.
You must meet the following eligibility criteria in order to access this course:
Age: You must have been at least 19 years of age by 1 August (if you are aged 19-23 years you must already hold a full level 2 qualification i.e. 5 x GCSE's grade A*-C / 4-9)
Nationality: You must have lived within the EU for at least the last 3 years.
Level: You must undertake a maths and English skills checker to ensure the course is the right level for you.
Apprenticeships: You must not be currently studying an apprenticeship.
Please be aware that this is a Level 2 course so learners are expected to have existing computer skills at, or near Level 1 standard. It is not suitable for absolute beginners.
You will need to attend an induction and assessment session which will be used to check your existing computer knowledge to ensure this is the most suitable course for you.

What you'll learn (core modules)
The course will cover the following skill areas:
Using and managing information:
how to search for and select appropriate information to meet personal and organization needs. How to evaluate the quality and reliability of information and understand about copyright. How to store information remotely in line with organisational procedures.
Keeping yourself and others safe when using digital devices:
How to use computers safely, in line with health and safety guidance. How to look after and protect personal and organizational data when working online. How to stay safe online and look after and protect digital devices.
Communicating and collaborating online:
Understand the different methods of digital communication. Be able to select the most appropriate communication need for any given situation, eg social media, video conferencing and email. Use appropriate tone and language when communicating with others. Understand the risks to personal and organizational reputation caused by inappropriate communications. Understand potential security issues when communicating online. Be aware of and how to protect against cyberbullying.
Digital career development:
This unit teaches you how to manage and promote personal or organizational online identity and reputation. How to manage multiple online identities, both professional and personal. Using social media to network and find employment and business opportunities. Using social media and the internet to facilitate personal development and learning to enhance your career progression.
How will I be assessed?
All work is completed and submitted online. An assessor will be assigned to mark and feedback on your submitted work.
Where will this course take me?
Learners who complete this qualification could progress to Level 3 ICT or business courses.
How much will it cost?
This course is fully funded as long as you meet the funding criteria*
You must be aged 19 or over by the 1 August, living within the E.U. for the previous 3 years and not currently studying an apprenticeship.
