Overview of course
This course is designed for those with some basic computing knowledge but who want to extend their knowledge to enable them to use more complex programs and features.
It is a natural follow up course for those who have attended the First Step course.
The course will look at the more powerful Microsoft Word program. It will also introduce the Excel and PowerPoint programs allowing you to perform simple calculations and create drawings.
We will also look further at working with the internet and more advanced email features.
What will I learn?
The course will look at creating saving and printing Word documents, creating a basic spreadsheet and a basic PowerPoint document. We will also look in more depth at the Internet Explorer browser and the more advanced features available to us. You will explore some of the more advanced email features such as attaching documents to emails.
By the end of the course you will be confident in your ability to create save and print documents from Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You will also be able to confidently navigate and undertake searches on the internet and use the main features of Internet Explorer, like favourites, etc. You will be able to attach documents and other files to your email.
Who is the course for?
The course is for people who have a basic understanding of computers but know that there is much more to give them the confidence they need to use a computer in everyday life.
Will I have to provide anything?
None required as computers will be provided. The tutor will provide handouts to accompany the topics covered in the course.
