About the course

This qualification will develop your understanding of bullying, including how to recognise that bullying is taking place and how to take action to stop it. This qualification covers the definitions of bullying and cyber bullying, legislation that relates to bullying, the effects of bullying on children and young people and how to act when bullying is identified.

 

Please note: The course focuses entirely on children and young people and is not relevant to anyone interested in an awareness of bullying in adults.

Entry requirements

All students will be required to attend an initial induction session at the start of the course and you will be allocated a designated tutor who will support you through your qualification. The induction is designed to give the learner the best possible start and due to the funding process for these courses you will have to complete some enrolment forms and complete an initial screening for Maths and English. The induction is an integral part of the course and can take up to 2 hours.

What you'll learn (core modules)

Unit 1: Principles of bullying

  • What is meant by bullying

  • Key features of what behaviour is considered bullying

  • What is meant by cyber bullying

  • Bullying in context

  • The short and long-term effects of bullying

  • Discrimination.

 

Unit 2: Recognising bullying in children and young people

  • Individuals who may be at risk of bullying

  • The signs that a child or young person may be being bullied

  • Why children or young people bully

 

Unit 3: Action to be taken when a child or young person is being bullied

  • How to support a child or young person who is being bullied

  • How to approach the potential bully.

 

Unit 4: Understand government guidelines for bullying

  • The Equality Act 2010

  • Government and Ofsted guidance on tackling bullying

  • Policies and procedures for bullying.

How will I be assessed?

 

This qualification is assessed via an internally assessed portfolio of evidence which is submitted to your tutor using the online portal.

Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)

After the initial induction session all learning is completed online at a time that suits you without the need to attend college From March 2020 until further notice these inductions will be held on line via Zoom. Full details will be provided once you have you completed the enrolment process.

How much will it cost?

The course is fully funded and there are no associated costs with completing this course*

However if you start and not complete this course there will be a charge of £125

 

*The course is fully funded subject to the individual being over 19 and having lived in an EEA country for the last 3 years
