About the course

The teaching for the qualification will be online, you will receive two 3-hour sessions once per month with an allocated programme tutor who will support you through your qualification. 

 

You will need to be able to embed your knowledge into a real-life working environment to gain the knowledge and skills to work within the childcare sector. You will need to be able to complete 16 hours per week voluntary or paid in a childcare setting. 

Entry requirements

Learners must meet the following eligibility criteria to access this course:

 

  • Age: Learners must have been at least 19 years of age by 1 August 2021
  • Nationality: Learners must have lived within the EU for at least the last 3 years
  • Learners will need to attend and interview and complete a maths and english diagnostic assesment.
  • First full Level 3 qualification**

 

  • Learners will need to be working, volunteering for at least 3 days per week (16 hours) as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations.
  • Learners will need access to a computer/laptop to attend virtual sessions.

**Due to funding criteria we are unable to funded learners who already hold a full Level 3 qualification; however, we accept those who wish to self-fund via an Advanced Learner Loan.

What you'll learn (core modules)

Learners will gain knowledge and experience working in a real childcare setting. You will develop an understanding of the following topics:

 

  • Health and Well being of babies and children
  • Legislation, frameworks, and professional practice
  • Gain an excellent understanding of play, development and the assessment of children.
  • Support healthy Lifestyles for children.
  • Support physical care routines for children.
  • Key working.
  • Observation methods- planning and promoting development in the Early Years.
  • Team working.
  • Play, development and learning for school readiness.

How will I be assessed?

Where is the course delivered? (facilities/classrooms)

Where will this course take me?

Upon achievement of this qualification learners will gain their licence to practise and it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. Learners can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as:

- Assistant in Children's Centres
- Practitioner in nursery schools
- Practitioner in reception classes in primary schools
- Pre-school worker

NCFE CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner (May 2016)

 

Level 5 CFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner (March 2019)
