About the course

These courses are suitable for students whose first language is not English. They are suitable for all ages and levels of ability.

You will be fully assessed by our professional tutors. We will advise you which level of qualification will best suit your needs.

The course will include all 4 language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Entry requirements

There are no formal requirements, but the results of initial assessments will be taken in to account when deciding on the qualification and level you are entered for.

Qualifications

ESOL Skills for Life (City & Guilds) Entry Level 1, Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3 and Level 1 and Level 2.

What you'll learn (core modules)

Your tutor will use a variety of teaching methods including explanation and discussion as well as group and individual activities. The class will be small and friendly and will focus on everyday practical skills through grammar and vocabulary exercises, role play activities, reading texts for information, speaking and listening in everyday contexts. Homework will be set each week to encourage students to engage in independent learning and students will complete reading and/or writing assessments within this course. You will work towards the Skills for Life ESOL Speaking and Listening unit on your first 16 week course and Reading and Writing unit qualifications in the second 16 weeks.

Where will this course take me?

Students can progress to complete additional units. Once a full certificate is achieved students can progress to higher levels.

How much will it cost?

£125 for 16 weeks, 3 hours per week.

 

The course is fully funded if :

  • learner is in paid employment and earns less than £16,009.50 annual gross salary - proof of this will be required.

or

  • learner is in receipt of state benefits such as JSA, ESA, Income Support or Universal Credit and earning less than £330pcm

 

 

All of the above is based on learner having lived in UK/EEA country for at least 3 years preceding the start of the course.
