Overview of course
This is a single unit qualification that is knowledge-only, so can be achieved by individuals who are not currently in an assessor role but want to develop their knowledge and understanding of principles and practices of assessment. It has a 3 credit value which broadly equates to 30 hours of study for the learner. It is usually achieved through a combination of assessment methods, including assignment work, case studies and professional discussion. It usually takes 3 – 6 months to achieve.

Further course detail
This programme starts with a group induction and training day at West Suffolk College or online, then all other learning and assessment is arranged on a one-to-one basis. There is usually one start date per academic term. We will be delivering each programme through a blended approach with a combination of face to face and virtual delivery: the specific arrangements will be notified to you before you enrol on the programme. However, the nature of the qualifications require that the assessments you carry out include some face to face work with learners: assessors who only work with learners remotely will not meet be able to the evidence requirements of the Awarding Organisation and sector for these qualifications in their present form. Registration for these qualifications is due to end in July 2021.
